Note: Pet Aid Animal Hospital is available for most medical conditions. We have enjoyed working with Kelsey at the Pet Aid front desk and Dr. Heather Hergert. Please ensure that residents who attend Pet Aid’s community clinics at DHA receive all the free hospital services that the Pet Aid program entails. To get started, call Pet Aid at (303) 722-5800.

  • Free Basic Health Care for Living in DHA with a Pet
  • Note: This program was started in Westwood by the property manager who wanted residents to keep their pets yet comply with DHA’s pet policies.
    • Free spay/neuter surgery for residents.
    • Free spay/neuter surgery for DHA employees who help animals.
    • Free vaccinations with the spay/neuter surgery. If the pet is already spayed/neutered, we re-vaccinate for free. We never vaccinate for unaltered animals.
    • Nail trims with the spay/neuter surgery
    • Free DHA Veterinarian Certificate signed by the doctor. Residents need this form to register their pet with DHA.
    • Operational Partner: Spay Today.
    • To Get Started: Get a supply of “Pet Packets” from us at (303) 888-1833. Everything is self-service – residents schedule the veterinary appointment and bring their pet to our veterinary partner.
    • You must do the following. When you give out a Pet Packet, you must give the Pet Packet #, resident name, address, and phone number (deborahannmain@gmail.com) or text (303-888-1833) .
  • If a Resident Can No Longer Keep a Pet
    • We pick up the  pet.
    • We bring the pet to our shelter partner.
    • Our partner does behavior and medical exams and treats conditions.
    • Our adoption partner screens interested families.
    • We let you and the resident know when your pet is adopted.
    • Operational Partner: Humane Society of Boulder Valley.

  • Stray Cats and Dogs
    • We will find a loving home.
    • We pick up the animal.
    • We bring the pet to our shelter partner.
    • Our adoption partner treats medical conditions and spays/neuters.
    • Our adoption partner finds a family.
    • We will let you and the resident know when the pet is adopted into a family.
    • Operational Partner: Humane Society of Boulder Valley.

  • Community “Mouser” Cats
    • Note: This program was started in South Lincoln by the maintenance technician and supported by the DHA Property Manager.
    • Our goal is to reduce the number of cats and take good care of the remaining ones in a way that is agreeable to DHA.
    • Our trapping partner comes out and traps the cats.
    • Our veterinary partner spays/neuters and vaccinates the cats.
    • Our trapping partner returns the truly feral cats after surgery.
    • Hopefully there is a resident who loves animals and is willing to take ongoing care of the community cats.
    • We supply food and set up a feeding place that is agreeable to DHA.
    • We remove any friendly stray cat(s) that may show up.
    • We inform DHA of the feeding place and the cats.

  • Special Services for DHA Residents Who Help Neighborhood Animals and Make DHA a Place Where Animals Are Safe and Healthy.
    • This is for really, really old pets of DHA residents; already spayed/neutered; and; depends on how the pet came into the family;
    • Operational Partner: Dr. Perez at Downtown Animal Clinic.
    • To Get Started: This program is available only when special grant funding is available. We already identified all the DHA residents and animals under our current grant.
